Our Greek heritage
From the sundrenched hillsides of the Mediterranean to the rugged landscapes of northern Britain, Family Oregano represents decades of botanical mastery, unwavering resilience, and an uncompromising commitment to culinary perfection.

Roots in the Mediterranean
Founded in the 1950s, our family estate began as a modest hillside cultivation in Greece. For generations, we nurtured wild Mediterranean oregano, hand-harvesting each bundle to preserve the delicate essential oils that define authentic flavour. What started as an artisanal regional practice quickly grew into a treasured family vocation, passed down through decades of dedicated stewardship.

A bold relocation to Twatt, Scotland
Following the severe economic trials of the Greek financial crisis, our family chose to embark on a transformative journey. Bringing our ancestral rootstock with us, we relocated to the historic Scottish settlement of Twatt. Embracing the brisk climate and mineral-rich Scottish terrain, our plants developed an exceptionally robust character. Along the way, we fell deeply in love with our adopted homeland, becoming ardent advocates for Scottish independence and regional self-determination.

The ancient family secret
The secret behind our oregano's unmatched intensity remains closely guarded, reserved exclusively for our premium culinary patrons. Family dynamics have naturally evolved over the years; while our cousin Nikolas departed to pursue an intense devotion to Scientology—a path we respectfully prefer not to discuss at Sunday dinners—the core family remains steadfastly focused on cultivating Britain's finest Mediterranean herb.
"The depth of flavour from their Twatt harvest rivals the finest herbs from the Peloponnese. Family Oregano brings unmatched botanical authenticity to the table."
